md: kicking non-fresh sdb1 from array

October 19, 2012

Today I’ve got these allarming messages about my raid configuration in my syslog:
md: bind<sdb1>
md: bind<sdc1>
md: kicking non-fresh sdb1 from array!
md: unbind<sdb1>
md: export_rdev(sdb1)
md: raid1 personality registered for level 1
raid1: raid set md0 active with 1 out of 2 mirrors

I’m sure I did a correct shutdown so not sure why I’ve got it.
Anyway I solved doing:
/sbin/mdadm /dev/md0 –fail /dev/sdb1 –remove /dev/sdb1
^^^ here I’ve got an warning (error?) message… don’t know why and severity!
/sbin/mdadm /dev/md0 –add /dev/sdb1
^^^ here I’ve got an information message… hoping it was not either a warning or an error one!
cat /proc/mdstat
^^^ yahoo… sdb1 now is in the raid and syncronization started!!!

All those information get from this LinuxQuestions.org article.
